What can I expect in therapy? Therapy is a self-reflective treatment that helps us heal and find new, effective pathways for living a healthier life. It’s conducted in a quiet, confidential space. Appointments are typically 55 minutes in length, though longer sessions can be scheduled according to your specific needs. We often begin with weekly sessions and decrease frequency as you progress toward your unique goals. I do tend to check in about how you feel our work is going through this process as I’m invested in our work together, and I’m committed to help you get what you need from therapy.
What are the benefits and risks of therapy? Most individuals and families benefit from therapy. For some, progress occurs right away, though for others healing takes more time. Prognosis depends on you as a unique person, the nature of your concerns, and your motivation toward change. Also, bringing tough issues to the surface can make us feel worse for a while, but this should be temporary and is fairly normal as changing behaviors and healing take time. That said, struggles that include suicidal thoughts are things I want to know about between sessions, especially if they're new.
What is the cost of therapy? Rates vary from $135-$200 based on the type of session (initial diagnostic assessment, ongoing therapy, Prolonged Exposure (PE) sessions or other 90-minute sessions), or if you are self-pay.
Insurance Accepted: Lyra Medical Mutual* Mutual Health Services Out of Network
I am contracted with Medical Mutual, Mutual Health, and Lyra insurance companies; for those with coverage with these 3 companies you will be responsible for your copay/coinsurance after any deductible is met. Your individual responsibility depends on your personal mental health deductible and copay. The best way to determine your responsibility is to contact your insurance directly as plans differ; I cannot always access this information. If you do NOT have Medical Mutual, Mutual Health, or Lyra insurance, you can access reimbursement for our services through your out-of-network benefits (see below for more information).
*I am not an in-network provider for Medical Mutual plans purchased through the exchange. What does Out of Network Mean? Out of Network means that your insurance can reimburse part of your service fees, though the level of reimbursement is at the discretion of your insurer. Most clients are reimbursed 60-100% of sessions fees, depending on the insurance and deductible criteria. This means that if your deductible has been met, your out of pocket cost can be $50 or less, which is similar to many insurance co-pays. If you're interested in using your out of network benefit, we are happy to provide a receipt at each visit upon request, but also encourage you to contact your insurance company directly and ask the following questions:
Do I need to meet a deductible before my services are covered? If so, what is this amount?
What percentage of the fee is covered after this deductible is met?
What are any limits for my out of network mental health benefits? Is this different for work with an in-network provider?
What is the reimbursement process for out of network expenses?
How to I schedule a first appointment? Message me at [email protected], or call 330-464-4468 and leave a message with your name and contact information. I will reply within 48 hours, often sooner, to discuss availability and any questions you have about therapy or insurance. Most appointments can be scheduled within 4 weeks, though this varies during different seasons of the year.
How do I pay session fees? Payment (full fee, co-insurance, or copay) is due at time of service by cash, check, credit card, and more recently through Zelle. I keep cards on file for your convenience and to best utilize our time in session together. However, if able I prefer cash/check/Zelle to avoid raising fees from the cost of card transactions.
